Road Trip to the Kennedy School

Kennedy School!

Last weekend my wife and I went to Portland, Oregon to meet up with my best friend and his wife at McMenamin's Kennedy School. The Kennedy School is an old elementary school in North West Portland that was built in 1915 and closed in 1975. It was converted into a resort of sorts in 1997 which includes: a hotel, a brewery, a movie theatre, a convention area, a restaurant, and 3 bars... The art work and decor is inspired by stories from the days when the school still functioned.

Our Room... The Cherry Tree branches are painted on the wall...

All of the hotel rooms are inside of the old classrooms, which have retained the chalk boards...

Everything in the place has been decorated in some sort of fashion...

The pictures have been painted directly onto the wall, and the frame placed around them...

The poem reads:
Some girls roll their cigarettes,
Some girls roll their socks,
But you will roll a baby buggy
For blocks and blocks and blocks
December 10, 1935...

The Queen...
